In dynasty leagues, rookie draft picks are among the most valuable assets. A high pick in a class with a generational talent can define a team's trajectory for years. When the worst record gets the #1 pick automatically, teams that are out of contention have a strong incentive to tank.

Tanking ruins the competitive experience for the rest of the league. Matchups against tanking teams become meaningless. Playoff seeding gets distorted. And the owners who are actually trying feel cheated.
