Linked Account Detection: catch alt accounts in public dynasty leagues

League Tycoon runs a continuous multi-signal integrity check that surfaces accounts that appear meaningfully connected. Every member of the league can open the report and review the findings, not just the commissioner. Built for public dynasty leagues where every owner should be a stranger.

No other major fantasy platform exposes this kind of integrity check to its league members. League Tycoon makes the signal available to the whole league.

The problem

One person, two teams, one rigged league

Public dynasty leagues form on Reddit, Twitter, Discord, and the in-app league finder. Owners join from across the country and almost never meet. That openness is the appeal. It also creates the perfect conditions for one person to register a second account, slip into the same league, and use one team to prop up the other.

The patterns are familiar to anyone who has played public leagues for a while. Lopsided trades that send the best assets in one direction. Drop and add patterns that look coordinated, where one team drops a sleeper and the same team picks them up before anyone else has a chance. Waiver claims that line up suspiciously. Two accounts that always seem to be online at the same time.

Most platforms ask owners to spot this manually, run it past the commissioner, and hope the commissioner agrees. That is the "smell test" standard, and it fails most of the time. The accounts that get caught are the careless ones. The careful ones never do.

How it works

A multi-signal integrity check, running in the background

Not a single IP match. Not a single device check. A weighted model that combines many private signals, evaluates their confidence, and watches activity patterns over time.

Linked Account Detection looks for accounts that appear meaningfully connected based on a combination of complex private factors, weighted evidence, signal confidence, and time-based activity patterns. The model runs continuously on every league and updates the report automatically.

The report separates two tiers of result, so context is preserved:

  • Strong linked-account matches. Multiple high-confidence signals overlap. The accounts look connected in a way that is hard to explain as coincidence.
  • Possible same-location matches. Softer overlap that could be benign (roommates, same city, shared network). Worth a look, but not conclusive on its own.

We deliberately do not list every signal we use. Publishing them would help the people we are trying to catch. What we will say is that the model is layered and weighted, so swapping a single signal (using a VPN, for example) does not defeat the check on its own.

Transparency by design

Every member of the league can run the check

League Tycoon shows the same Linked Account Detection report to every member of the league. The check is always on, the commissioner cannot turn it off, and any member can refresh and review the findings. If two accounts are flagged, the entire league sees it at the same time and the entire league gets to weigh the evidence.

Where to find it

Three taps from any league screen

  1. 1

    Open League Settings

From inside the league, tap League Settings.

  2. 2

    Tap the overflow menu

The three-dot overflow menu sits in the top-right corner of the settings screen.

  3. 3

    Select Linked Account Detection

The most recent report loads instantly. Tap the refresh icon in the top-right to run a fresh check.

Who it is for

Built for public leagues, less critical for home leagues

Most useful for

  • Public dynasty leagues filled from the in-app finder, Reddit, Discord, or Twitter
  • Mock draft and startup leagues where members are strangers
  • High-stakes leagues with entry fees or trophies
  • Long-running dynasty leagues that have added new members over time

Less critical for

  • Friend and family leagues where everyone knows each other
  • Home leagues where shared networks and locations are expected
  • Office or workplace leagues with members on a single Wi-Fi

The check still runs on home leagues, since it is always on for every league. Just expect roommates and family on a shared network to surface as possible matches.

Several platforms include language in their fair-play policies that prohibits running multiple accounts in one league. None of them publish an automated detection report and none expose findings to league members. Linked Account Detection FAQ

What is Linked Account Detection?
Linked Account Detection is a multi-signal integrity check that runs continuously on every League Tycoon league. It looks at a weighted combination of private signals, including signal confidence and time-based activity patterns, to surface accounts that appear meaningfully connected. The report separates strong linked-account matches from softer possible same-location matches so members can review results with context. Every member of the league can open the report and review the findings.
Who can see the Linked Account Detection report?
Every member of the league. This is intentional. Most platforms gate fair-play tools behind the commissioner, which means a commissioner running an alt account could ignore the report or hide it from members. League Tycoon shows the same report to everyone in the league so the league as a whole can weigh the evidence.
Where do I find Linked Account Detection in the app?
Open the league, tap League Settings, tap the overflow menu in the top-right corner of the screen, and select Linked Account Detection. The most recent report opens immediately. Tap the refresh icon in the top-right of the report to run a fresh check.
Is Linked Account Detection useful for friend or home leagues?
Less so. Friends and family often share a home network, a household, or even devices. Those are exactly the kinds of signals that the detection model weighs, so a home league with three brothers playing on the same Wi-Fi will show up in the report. That is not a defect, it is the model doing its job. For a public dynasty league of strangers, those same signals are exactly what you want to surface.
Why is Linked Account Detection different from anything else out there?
League Tycoon is the only major fantasy platform that exposes an automated, multi-signal integrity check directly to league members. The report runs continuously on every league and the findings are visible to every owner. No commissioner gatekeeping, no manual reporting workflow, no relying on the smell test.
What is the difference between a strong match and a possible same-location match?
A strong linked-account match means multiple high-confidence signals line up across two or more accounts. A possible same-location match means the model sees softer overlap that could be a coincidence (for example, two members on the same college campus or in the same city). The report separates the two so the league can apply context. Roommates in a public league might surface as a possible match without it being an alt account, but two accounts with strong matches in a stranger league are worth investigating.
Can the model be gamed by using a VPN or a different device?
It is harder to gain than a single-signal IP check. The model weighs many signals together, not just one, and it tracks time-based activity patterns. Two accounts that always log in from different IP addresses but make perfectly coordinated moves at correlated times will still produce signal, just from different inputs. The specific signals are not disclosed publicly to limit gaming, but the model is layered intentionally.
Does the detection run automatically?
Yes. Multi-layered integrity checks run in the background on every league, all season. The Always-on Protection badge in the report shows when the model last evaluated the league. Members can also force a fresh check from inside the report.
What should I do if Linked Account Detection flags accounts in my league?
Open the report, review the linked groups, and bring it to the league. If the league is public and the flagged accounts have strong matches with no plausible explanation (shared device, shared household, correlated activity), the commissioner can remove the accounts and reverse any transactions made between them. If the league is friend or home, context matters more, and you may decide a possible match is benign.
Is Linked Account Detection available in standard dynasty as well as contract dynasty?
Yes. It runs on every league type, free or paid, standard dynasty or contract dynasty. League integrity is not gated behind a tier.
Can a commissioner disable Linked Account Detection?
No. The integrity check is always on for every league. A commissioner cannot hide the report from members or stop it from running. This is by design, since a commissioner is one of the people the model needs to be able to flag.
